Hawaii is the first State in the United States of America to establish in law an annual celebration that honors and celebrates our children and youth and the wonderful contributions they make to our world. Children & Youth Day (CYD) happens on the first Sunday of October, each year in Hawaii. This year is the 27th Annual Event which falls on Sunday, October 4, 2020 from 10:00am–3:00pm! CYD is a time to recognize the potential and special gifts of our keiki (children) and ‘ōpio (youth). It is a time for them to shine and share their bountiful energy with their community. This year’s theme is Belonging and all participating organizations can focus their booth on engaging activities to educate on the Hawaiian value of belonging to ‘aina (land), moana (ocean), lahui (community), ‘ohana (family) and ‘o wau (myself).
Experience 30+ organization booths for all family members and our main auditorium with tons of video content. From McDonalds, Kama‘aina Kids, Girl Scouts, State Agencies and more, your child can watch and engage in videos while parents can gain access to valuable resources. Check out the CYD Auditorium for all day entertainment.
Children can participate in our virtual scavenger hunt to be eligible for a goodie bag. Keiki will be shown clues to find images throughout the virtual event. Adults can also get in on the fun by participating in our Leaderboard game by reading a list of actions to perform during the event to be awarded virtual points which leads to prizes, including a Google Pixelbook Go 13.3” Chromebook, perfect for distance learning.
A variety of entertainment scheduled including Hula Halau’s, Youth Performances, Local Celebrities Cosplayers including Wonder Woman, Black Panther, Captain Jack Sparrow, and much more.
